PEOPLE SERVICES, INC., has been successfully providing services in Lake County since 1981. People Services, Inc., is a private, non-for-profit California 501 (c) 3 corporation, organized to meet the individual needs of people with disabilities residing in Lake County.

People Services is overseen by a nine member, volunteer Board of Directors. People Services networks within the community as an advocate for people with disabilities, focusing on community access, consumer rights, fostering independence and economic self-sufficiency.

An array of services are operated by People Services, Inc. These services are designed to meet the various needs, wants, and desires as expressed by those we serve. We are consistently reviewing, enhancing, and changing our needs as our service population expands. We are prepared with positive support strategies to meet any challenges that may arise.

The following briefly describes what we can offer you or your family member:


Transportation: People Services operates a transit service specifically dPSI van arrivingesigned to meet your needs. It provides doorstep pickup and delivery for all persons attending and accessing services from People Services throughout the county. The service vehicles are equipped to serve ambulatory and non-ambulatory referrals.


Support and Advocacy Services: We can connect you with the independent living option of your choice. We will support you with your communications, (i.e. SSI/SSDI). We can assist you in location and maintaining accessible, affordable, safe housing. We will support you with your financial management, (i.e. bill paying). We will support you in accessing generic services in yoMaking it on her ownur community to meet your needs. Konocti Connections has been designed to help you address the issues that are most important to you. They are there to help you accomplish the goals that you set for your self. We will be there when you need us!


Independent Training Services: To help prepare you to take the next step towards independent living or to assist you in learning more independence in your independent living option. You pick the need, want or desire and together we develop the plan and train you with the skills and experience to be more self-sufficient. Konocti Independent Living Training Service will taylor it's training and support in a way that is most helpful to you.


Tutor Services: If you feel like you would need extra help to assure your success in the decisions you make, PSI also can offer personal tutor services. Your tutor will work with you as you take advantage of group and individual training and support.


Personal, Social and Community Training Services: A wide variety of opportunities await you at our instructional services. Group training provides you with new friends and social experiences. Individual needs, wants, and desires are addressed in small group training sessions. The mission is to provide you with the necessary skills and abilities that will have a positive impact on your Money matterslife today.

You can learn how to use the public transit system, order food at a restaurant, use the public library, access the local health club, plan a meal, cook your own meals, work with others on a news letter, learn new leisure skills and much more.

In planning for the future, the training that occurs is done in the environments where the skill is most likely to be needed. While simulated training is always a necessity, we are always looking for the real thing. You can find us at two different sites in the Lake County Community. Locally each site is known as Konocti Instructional Services/Clearlake and Konocti Instructional Services/Lakeport.

Employment Services: Want to work? We can make it happen! Our employment services link with the community and provide employment opportunities for you. This service is unique in that a job coach is utilized in all aspects of the employment process. This resulting "supported employmenGood workt" situation is on going for as long as necessary. This relationship benefits both the employer and the employee.

You can also choose to work with a group of others at Konocti Industries. People Services enters into contracts for landscape management, building maintenance, janitorial services, office production, and contracts for labor. These services are available to both businesses and individuals. Additionally, a small wood shop operates to provide even more vocational training for you. We manufacture wood picnic tables and refurbish outdoor wood furniture. New services are being developed, as more work is desired.

We can help you try out work opportunities through situational assessments or focus on pre-vocational work adjustment behaviors. We also can assist you in seeking employment, filling out job applications, preparing a job coach in learning your new job. It is your employment choice!

Community Based Day Services: In this 1 to 1 day service option, services are conducted completely out in the community by Konocti LifeStyles. With a 1 to 1 ratio, vocational opportunities based on ability and interest also present themselves as options. Support can also be provided during special out of town field trips and adventures where exposure to what other counties have to offer. Training and support can also be provided in the following areas:

Home is where the heart isRespite Services (in home): In home respite services provided by Konocti Respite are available for families caring for a developmentally disabled child/relative. Respite Services allow families to experience relief from the on going responsibilities of caring for persons with developmental disabilities. The rest and self-renewal as a result of respite services is an invaluable part of maximizing life quality. Through our respite services we also allow for recreational opportunities during receipt of respite. The family gets a break and the consumer can access the community.
