You may want
to work on your worker skills as you consider joining the world of
work. If you are choosing to enhance your work skills you can find
work opportunities in paid and volunteer work. You can join the work
adjustment program five days per week. When paid job openings are
available you can work up to three days per week. The other two days
you can enhance your skills by attending our worker training classes
and/or volunteering for one of our volunteer sites where we help others
and you can learn other work skills. Paid work training opportunities
(up to three days a week) include:
- Learning
work skills for grounds maintenance
- Learning
work skills related to retail business
- Learning
work skills for vending machine business

You can choose
to work on interpersonal skills including:
- Sharing
your ideas with others
- Learning
how to disagree with someone and still have them as your friend
- Learning
how to ask for help when you really need help
- Learning
that it's o.k. to say "no" when that's what you really
mean
Other skills
that can help you at home include things
like:
- Learning
to cook from a recipe
- Learning
basic reading and writing skills
- Money skills
that matter to you!
- Gardening
(you can use some of your "home grown" vegetables in
your cooking class)
- Learning
to take care of your personal needs
- Basic computer
skills
- Grooming
and makeup tips
- Hair care
and shaving
- Domestic
skills like vacuuming
If you are interested
in exploring your "artistic" side, we have a number of very
exciting classes you will want to look into. KIS/Clearlake has a wonderful
art gallery where you can show your artwork.
You can discover
your creative side in any one of the following art classes:
- Painting
with watercolors over a variety of subjects
- Landscape
painting with acrylics
- Creative
sewing classes
- Glass painting
- Wood Skills

- Sewing your
own clothes
Not only will
you learn to do things for yourself, but you will also have the opportunity
to help others. You can volunteer and help out other people who will
